Why to see a clinical exercise physiologist


A Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) is a health care professional with a a degree and/or certificate in exercise physiology or exercise science area has knowledge and expertise on how the body respond to movement and exercise training, as well as how the body adapt to exercise training over time.  

A CEP work with people who have been diagnosed with chronic diseases that include cardiovascular, metabolic, pulmonary, immunologic, hematologic, neuromuscular and chronic musculoskeletal diseases. 

The CEP utilizes scientific rationale to perform clinical exercise testing, exercise prescription, physical activity counseling, exercise supervision, and health education/promotion to assist in prevention and manage chronic of disease, as well as recovery from illness.  

Exercise is essential component of your diabetes management. Planning and starting an exercise program can be challenging, however a CEP can help you take the first step in the right direction to manage your diabetes with other health issues while improving functional ability. If you are a novice athlete or professional athlete, a CEP can guide through your training and assist you with glucose management through training and performance. 

Goals to achieve when consulting a clinical exercise physiologist:
